3.1.8. Gas-distributing belt and asterisks

GENERAL INFORMATION

Gas-distributing belt and related details (1,8 l of DOHC)

1. Belt covers

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator.
2. Put the car on the emergency brake.
Models of 1,6 l
3. Remove a protective plate of the engine.
4. Take off a driving belt of the power steering and air conditioner.
5. Take off a driving belt of the generator and unscrew spark plugs.
6. Unscrew bolts and remove a pulley of the water pump.
7. Unscrew four bolts of a pulley of a bent shaft and remove a pulley.
8. Unscrew the central bolt of an asterisk of a bent shaft.
9. Remove a persistent flange of a gas-distributing belt.
10. Uncover top and lower a belt.
11. Turn a bent shaft.
12. Combine synchronizing tags of an asterisk of the camshaft (SOHC) and synchronizing tags of an asterisk of a bent shaft (SOHC).
13. Note the direction of rotation of a belt.
14. Weaken a natyazhitel of a belt and take off a belt.
Models of 1,8 l
15. Remove a protective plate of the engine.
16. Take off driving belts of the power steering, air conditioner and generator.
17. Unscrew bolts and remove a pulley of the water pump.
18. Unscrew spark plugs and get the oil probe.
19. Unscrew four bolts of a pulley of a bent shaft and remove a pulley.
20. Uncover a gas-distributing belt.
21. Unscrew a bolt of an asterisk of a bent shaft.
22. Remove a persistent flange of a belt.
23. Turn a bent shaft so that to combine synchronizing tags of asterisks of cranked and distributive shaft (SOHC).
24. Turn a bent shaft so that to combine synchronizing tags of asterisks of cranked and distributive shaft (1,8 l of DOHC).
25. Note the direction of rotation of a belt.
26. Weaken a natyazhitel of a belt and take off a belt.
27. If you need to remove asterisks of camshafts for replacement of epiploons, uncover valves, unscrew bolts of asterisks and remove asterisks.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove intermediate pulleys and examine their bearings.
2. If the belt was strongly damaged, clean asterisks from the belt remains which got stuck in them.
3. Examine a belt on existence of the burst or absent teeth. If teeth of a belt are torn off or have cracks, then probably jam camshafts or shaft of oil or water pumps.
4. If the belt is strongly worn-out or in it there are cracks, it is necessary to check asterisks of shaft.
5. If the side surface of a belt is damaged, it is necessary to check a persistent flange and installation of asterisks.
6. If necessary replace a belt and correct malfunctions.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clean area of an arrangement of a belt.
2. Establish intermediate pulleys and a pulley of a natyazhitel.
3. Establish asterisks of shaft and tighten bolts.
4. Combine synchronizing tags of asterisks of cranked and distributive shaft (SOHC).
5. Combine synchronizing tags of asterisks of cranked and distributive shaft (1,8 l of DOHC).
6. Put on a belt asterisks.
Models of 1,6 l
7. Establish a persistent flange of a belt and a bolt of an asterisk of a bent shaft.
8. Turn a bent shaft on two whole revolutions and combine synchronizing tags.
9. Check that tags of an asterisk of the camshaft were correctly combined with tags on a head of cylinders.
10. Weaken a bolt of a pulley of a natyazhitel that the belt stretched.
11. Tighten a bolt of a pulley of a natyazhitel.
12. Turn a bent shaft on two whole revolutions and combine synchronizing tags.
13. Check a belt tension, having pressed on a belt a hand between asterisks of cranked and distributive shaft. The belt has to cave in approximately on 13 mm, but not less than 11 mm.
14. If necessary repeatedly adjust a belt tension.
15. Tighten a bolt of an asterisk of a bent shaft.
16. Establish the remained details. Check operation of the engine.
Models of 1,8 l
17. Put on a persistent flange of a belt and an asterisk of a bent shaft.
18. Turn a bent shaft clockwise on 1 and 5/6 turns and combine a synchronizing tag of an asterisk of a bent shaft with a tag of the installation of a tension located on the block of cylinders.
1. About 60 °
2. Tag of installation of a tension
19. Weaken a bolt of a pulley of a natyazhitel that the belt stretched.
20. Tighten a bolt.
21. Turn a bent shaft on 2 and 1/6 turns and combine synchronizing tags of asterisks of distributive and cranked shaft.
22. Check a belt tension (1,8 l of DOHC). For 1,8 l 9,5-11,1 mm.
23. If necessary repeatedly adjust a belt tension.
24. Tighten a bolt of an asterisk of a bent shaft.
25. Establish the remained details. Check operation of the engine.
