3.1.4. Top dead point

GENERAL INFORMATION

The highest point of the cylinder which is reached by the piston during a compression step is accepted to VMT.

Installation of pistons in VMT is an integral part of many procedures.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Put the car on the emergency brake and disconnect system of ignition, having disconnected a wire from the ignition coil. Unscrew candles.
2. Turn a bent shaft clockwise, by means of a wrench until the cut in an asterisk of a bent shaft is not combined with the T tag on a synchronizing plate.
3. Uncover the distributor of ignition and examine a rotor, he has to point to the tag located on the distributor case (the tag indicates an arrangement of contact of a wire of a spark plug of the first cylinder). If the rotor is turned on 180 °, the N1 piston means is in release step VMT.
4. Turn a bent shaft on one whole revolution (360 °) clockwise. The N1 piston is in compression step VMT.
