3.5.23. Installation of a bent shaft

GENERAL INFORMATION

Sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of radical bearings (4-cylinder engines)

Sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines)

Check of a lubricant gap of radical bearings

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish new inserts of radical bearings.
2. For measurement of a lubricant gap it is possible to use an internal micrometer or other special device, but the most exact and easy method is to use the special plastic measuring instrument.
3. Clear a bent shaft, bearings and lubricant openings, then accurately install a bent shaft on bearings.
4. Put a plastic piece on each of radical bearings along a shaft axis.
5. Establish covers of radical bearings, trying not to shift plastic. Tighten fixing bolts of covers till the required inhaling moment in the specified sequence. Do not turn a bent shaft.
6. Unscrew bolts and accurately uncover.
7. Compare width of the crushed film to a special scale for determination of size of a lubricant gap.
8. If the size of a gap does not conform to technical requirements, establish inserts of other size. If necessary bearings can be ground.
9. Carefully remove film traces from a shaft and bearings.

Final installation of a bent shaft

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Accurately remove a bent shaft.
2. Establish the top persistent half ring by cuts outside.
3. Turn a half ring around a bent shaft, having established it, thus, into place.
4. Clear a surface of inserts and oil them lubricant or engine.
5. Check that bearings of a bent shaft were pure, and establish a bent shaft into place.
6. Grease and establish the lower inserts.
7. Install covers of radical bearings in four-cylinder engines. Shooters of covers have to be directed towards a forward part of the engine. Insert and tighten bolts of covers of all radical bearings till the required inhaling moment in the specified sequence.
8. In six-cylinder engines apply sealant on the joined surfaces of the block of covers. Install the block. Insert and tighten bolts of the block of covers till the required inhaling moment in the specified sequence.
9. Turn a bent shaft a hand several times and check ease of the course.
10. Check an axial side play of a bent shaft and establish a back epiploon.
