| 1. Before removing a bent shaft, measure its free wheeling by means of the special device or by means of the probe near the persistent bearing. If the gap more than is required, examine half rings of the persistent bearing on wear existence if half rings are not worn-out, it is necessary to establish new to adjust a gap. |
| 2. Covers of radical bearings have to be numbered on increasing, from a forward cover to back if it not so, number them. Usually on covers there is an arrow which is directed towards a forward part of the engine. Weaken bolts of covers in stages on 1/4 turn. In six-cylinder engines unscrew bolts of the block of covers in the specified sequence. |
| 3. Uncover and get inserts of bearings. |
| 4. Remove a bent shaft. |
