4.13. Systems of air conditioning and heating

GENERAL INFORMATION

Within maintenance it is necessary to carry out the following inspections regularly:

Check a condition of a driving compressor belt. If necessary replace a belt.

Check a tension of a belt and if necessary adjust it.

Examine system hoses on existence of cracks, swellings, and the ground places. If necessary replace hoses.

Examine edges of the refrigerator and clean the dirt which got stuck in them.

Check coolant pressure.

Check
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Warm the engine up to the working temperature.
2. Install the handle of adjustment of temperature in the provision of cold air. Include the maximum speed of the delivery fan.
3. After air conditioning system reaches working temperature, touch two tubes connected to the refrigerator.
4. Thinner tube has to be cold, and thicker tube has to be even colder (about -16 °C or -12 °C).
5. If the thick tube is much warmer, than thin, the system should be loaded with coolant in addition. Insert the thermometer into the center of an air vent. Air temperature, arriving from an opening has to be 20-25 °C lower than temperature of air. If it not so, system it is necessary to load in addition with coolant, for this purpose address the expert.

COOLANT

Set for recharge of air conditioning system coolant

Any motorist can conduct recharge of air conditioning systems of later models in which R-134a coolant is used independently. For this purpose it is necessary to acquire special set for recharge.

For recharge of the air conditioning system coolant, uses two types of R-12 coolant and R-134a. The systems loaded with R-12 coolant are used mainly on early models (1993). Maintenance of these systems needs to be carried out in specialized workshops.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect a hose to the valve located on a tube of coolant or on a moisture separator.
2. Close contacts (are specified by an arrow) pressure switch by means of a crossing point that the compressor continued to work when you load system with coolant.

HEATING SYSTEM

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Take air temperature, arriving from an air vent.
2. Examine a hose of the block of a heater and the evaporator, check that it was not littered.

If the air arriving from air vents not hot, a problem can consist in the following:

a) Jammed the thermostat in open situation. Replace the thermostat.

b) The heater radiator hose is littered. Wash out hoses of a radiator and a radiator.

c) The heater radiator is littered. If it is not possible to wash out a radiator, replace it.

If the delivery fan works not in all modes, see subsection 4.9.

If air does not arrive from air vents:

a) Include ignition and the delivery fan. Listen whether the fan motor works.

b) If the motor does not work, replace it.

If from air vents steam or a smell of antifreeze arrives, so the radiator of a heater which needs to be replaced proceeds.

AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM SMELLS

For removal of the smells arising in the air conditioning system usually use special disinfectants. And, though, the best decision would be to address in a specialized workshop, you can process air conditioning system elements.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Remove the resistor of the delivery fan and process disinfecting structure the evaporator.
