3.4.6. Removal and installation of the engine


Method and precautionary measures

If you remove the engine for the first time, you need to prepare for this purpose the room, it is desirable equipped with the elevator. You need the assistant, ideally the person having special knowledge and having experience. It is also necessary to prepare all necessary tools and to observe all necessary precautionary measures during this difficult procedure.

1. Weaken pressure in fuel system.
2. Disconnect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator.
3. Remove a cowl.
4. Lift and fix a forward part of the car.
5. Merge cooling liquid, engine oil, gearbox oil and take off all driving belts.
6. Remove forward wheels.
7. Disconnect all vacuum hoses, hoses of the cooling system and system of release, disconnect wires and fuel hoses. Before disconnecting wires and hoses, mark both ends.
8. Remove the air filter and the resonator.
9. Remove a protective plate of the engine.
10. Remove an accumulator arm, a cover of the accumulator and the accumulator.
11. Disconnect an accelerator rope.
12. Remove a tank of windscreen washers and a tank of cooling liquid.
13. Disconnect heater hoses.
14. Remove the cooling fan, hoses of a radiator and a radiator.
15. Uncover a jellied mouth of the fuel tank, and then disconnect fuel tubes from the engine.
16. Disconnect the pump of the power steering and fix it sideways.
17. Disconnect the compressor of the air conditioner and fix it sideways. Do not disconnect coolant hoses.
18. Disconnect ropes from the engine.
19. Disconnect squeezing the coupling cylinder, a rod of switching and a rope.
20. Disconnect forward section of an exhaust pipe and a half shaft.
21. Connect the engine to the elevator.
22. Check that the engine was not connected to anything.
23. Establish a jack under the transmission and remove a dynamic damper, arms of support of the engine and an arm of the engine.
24. Connect the elevator. Accurately lift the engine together with the transmission.
25. Disconnect the transmission and a flywheel from the engine and fix the engine on a special support.
26. In models with the automatic transmission remove clips of the hydrotransformer and press the hydrotransformer into a transmission casing.
27. Unscrew bolts and disconnect the transmission from the engine.


1. Examine support of the engine and the transmission, if necessary replace them.
2. Examine coupling or laying and the coupling of the hydrotransformer.
3. Grease the hydrotransformer with lubricant and dress it on the leading shaft of the transmission and a vent of the forward pump.
4. Insert and tighten bolts of the engine and transmission.
5. Install the engine and the transmission in the car, tighten bolts of fastenings, establish the remained details, hoses and wires.
6. Fill in engine oil, a cooler and gearbox oil. Start the engine and check its work.
