3.7.7. Starter and system of start of the engine

GENERAL INFORMATION

The system of start of the engine consists of the accumulator, a starter, the involving relay and connecting wires. The involving relay is located on a starter.

During the work with system of start of the engine observe the precautionary measures provided for work with system of electric equipment of the engine.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. First of all, check connecting wires and reliability of connections. Check accumulator charging. Check reliability of fastening of a starter. Check safety locks and the blocking switch on the transmission.

2. If the starter rotates slowly, check giving of tension for a starter. It should not fall lower than 8,0 Volts.

3. If starter supply voltage as it should be, however, a starter does not work, remove a starter and check operation of the involving relay. Replace a starter or the relay if it is necessary.

Removal and installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator.

2. Remove the air filter and an airintaking branch pipe.

Models with the 4-cylinder engine

3. Remove the arm located between an inlet collector and a starter.

Models with the 6-cylinder engine and the automatic transmission

4. Disconnect a switching rope from the lever on the transmission.

5. Disconnect sockets of connection of the wires preventing removal of a starter and remove wires aside.

6. Remove a fixing arm of a rope of gear shifting.

All models

7. Mark and disconnect wires from plugs on the starter relay. Turn off fixing bolts (are specified by shooters) and remove a starter (at the left – models with the 4-cylinder engine, on the right – models with the 6-cylinder engine).

8. Installation is carried out upside-down removals.
