3.3.8. Camshafts and pushers

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arrangement of covers of bearings of camshafts one after another

1. Covers of a shaft of inlet valves

2. Covers of a shaft of final valves

3. Forward part of the engine

4. Back part of the engine

Covers of shaft of a forward head are marked with letters, and covers of shaft of a back head – figures.

Sequence of weakening of bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts (forward head of cylinders)

1. Party of a gas-distributing belt

Sequence of weakening of bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts (back head of cylinders)

1. Party of a gas-distributing belt

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Uncover heads of cylinders, a gas-distributing belt and asterisks of camshafts. If you remove shaft from a forward head of cylinders, remove the ignition distributor (model of 1997 and earlier years of release). If you remove camshafts from a back head, then remove an inlet collector.
Prevention

Before uncovering bearings of camshafts, combine adjusting pins of shaft with tags on face caps.

2. On a forward head of cylinders combine an adjusting pin (A) of the camshaft of final valves with a tag on a face cap (V) and a synchronizing tag of an asterisk of a shaft (C).
3. On a back head of cylinders combine an adjusting pin (A) of the camshaft of inlet valves with a tag on a face cap (In).
4. Weaken bolts of face caps of shaft in stages (on 1/4 turns). Weaken at first two external bolts, and then two internal (in a back head there is also a bolt (V) which needs to be weakened in the last turn.
5. Remove epiploons of camshafts.
6. Using the specified sequence, weaken in stages (on 1/4 turns) bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts (see rice. Sequence of weakening of bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts (forward head of cylinders) and rice. Sequence of weakening of bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts (back head of cylinders)).
7. Remove covers and camshafts.
8. Put covers of bearings one after another.

Prevention

If necessary remove pushers of valves by means of a magnet. Put pushers one after another. Hydraulic pushers (models of 1997 and earlier) should be held turned in pure engine oil.

Check

Examine camshafts and pushers (see subsection 3.1.10).

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Apply molybdenic lubricant on pushers and establish them on places.
2. Apply molybdenic lubricant on cams and necks of bearings of camshafts.
3. Establish shaft in a head and combine synchronizing tags of gear gear wheels of shaft.
4. Apply sealant on outer edges of forward covers of bearings of shaft.
5. Combine adjusting pins of the leading shaft with synchronizing tags and establish persistent plates of camshafts, having tightened their bolts (see above).
6. Establish all covers of bearings of shaft.
7. Using the specified sequence, tighten in stages (on 1/4 turns) bolts of covers (see rice. Sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts (forward head of cylinders) and rice. Sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts (back head of cylinders)).
8. Oil a new epiploon of the camshaft engine and establish it into place.
9. Install the caps greased with sealant on forward parts of the conducted camshafts.

10. Establish the remained details upside-down.
