9.7. Brake shoes of drum brakes

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Always replace brake shoes at the same time on both wheels. Observe precautionary measures during the work with the brake dust containing asbestos which is hazardous to health.

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove back wheels.
2. Remove the brake drum. If he does not act, twirl a bolt with a diameter of 8 mm in the provided opening to wring out a drum.
3. Turn off a fixing nut and remove a nave of a back wheel.
4. Clear the brake mechanism of dust and dirt.
5. Press on a clamping spring, turn a pin and remove a spring.
6. Disconnect the top returnable spring from a front brake shoe.
7. Disconnect the regulator and the lower returnable spring from a front brake shoe.
8. Remove a clamping spring of a back brake shoe.
9. Remove a back brake shoe and disconnect a returnable spring.
10. Disconnect a regulator spring from a block.
11. Remove pins of clamping springs.
12. Remove a rope of the emergency brake from the lever on a back brake shoe.
13. Grease installation sites of brake shoes with high-temperature lubricant.
14. Release a fixing clip by means of the screw-driver.
15. Install the lever of the emergency brake on a new block.
16. Establish into place pins of clamping springs.
17. Connect a rope of the emergency brake to the lever.
18. Connect a returnable spring to a back brake shoe.
19. Establish a back tomozny block on a brake guard.
20. Establish a clip on a pin of a clamping spring.
21. Connect the lower returnable spring in a back brake shoe.
22. Establish a front brake shoe into place, connect the lower returnable spring and establish a clamping spring.
23. Connect the top returnable spring to a front brake shoe.
24. Tighten up the regulator of the emergency brake to reduce distance between brake shoes before installation of the brake drum.
25. Examine the brake drum on existence of cracks, scratches and wear tracks. Check diameter of the brake drum.

26. Installation is carried out upside-down removals.
