8.4. Half shafts

GENERAL INFORMATION

The drive is transmitted to transmission wheels through couple of half shafts. On the ends of half shafts hinges of equal angular speeds are installed.

Periodically examine hinges on existence of damages or traces of leak of lubricant. Check integrity of boots and reliability of collars.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a heel-tap from a nut of fastening of a nave
2. Weaken a fixing nut of a nave.
3. Lift the car and install it on support. Remove a wheel.
4. Disconnect the stabilizer of cross stability from the suspension bracket lever.
5. Disconnect the lower lever of a suspension bracket from a nave arm. Remove a fixing nut of a nave.
6. Take away a nave arm outside and get the end of a half shaft from a nave.
7. For removal of the right half shaft get the internal end of a half shaft from the transmission by means of the big screw-driver or a lomik, having established it between a casing of the hinge and fastening of the intermediate bearing.
8. For removal of the left half shaft take the internal end of a half shaft from the transmission by means of the big screw-driver or a lomik, having established it between the transmission and a casing of the hinge.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove an old lock ring on the internal end of a half shaft and establish new. Grease an epiploon of the transmission or intermediate bearing and insert the end of a half shaft into place. Check that the lock ring reliably fixed a half shaft.
2. Grease vents of the external hinge and insert the end of a half shaft into a nave.
3. Connect the lower lever of a suspension bracket to an arm of a nave and tighten a fixing bolt till the required inhaling moment.
4. Establish a new fixing nut a nave and reliably twirl it.
5. Connect the stabilizer of cross resistance to the suspension bracket lever. Establish into place a wheel and lower the car on the earth.
6. Tighten a fixing nut of a nave till the required inhaling moment.
