5.1.5. Check of elements of the carburetor

GENERAL INFORMATION

SYSTEM OF SUPPLY OF HOT AIR

Operations of check of system of supply of hot air are described in subsection 5.1.1.

HEATER OF THE INLET COLLECTOR

Scheme of system of a heater of an inlet collector

1. Ignition lock
2. The temperature switch heated by cooling liquid of the engine
3. Heater of an inlet collector
4. Heater relay
5. Accumulator

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. When the engine cold (temperature of cooling liquid is below 60 °C), connect the voltmeter between a food wire on a heater (usually thick red wire) and "weight". If the voltmeter does not register accumulator tension, check the temperature switch and the relay of a heater.
2. Connect the voltmeter between a wire of grounding of a heater (a black wire) and "mass" of the car. Tension registered by the voltmeter has to be very low (0,25 Volts or less). If tension is higher, check reliability of grounding of a heater.
3. Disconnect wires of connection of a heater and connect between them an ohmmeter. Replace a heater if conductivity is absent (resistance has to be 1,0 Ohms or less).

TEMPERATURE SWITCH

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect the voltmeter between a wire of power supply of the temperature switch and "weight". The registered tension has to be very low (0,25 Volts or less) as grounding is carried out via the temperature switch.
2. If the registered tension exceeds 0,25 Volts, so the temperature switch partially or is completely open. Check it, having disconnected wires and having connected an ohmmeter between plugs of the temperature switch. The ohmmeter has to show that the chain is opened if the switch is open, and, therefore, the switch is faulty. If the ohmmeter shows that the chain is closed (that testifies to serviceability of the switch), check the grounding wire connecting the switch to "mass" of the car.
3. Disconnect a grounding wire, on a wire of food there has to be a rated voltage of the accumulator. If is not present, check the heater relay.
4. When the engine hot (temperature of cooling liquid is above 60 °C) and ignition is included, tension on a wire of power supply of the temperature switch has to equal to the rated voltage of the accumulator as the chain has to be opened by the switch.
5. If the registered tension is lower, check the temperature switch for conductivity as it is described above. The switch have to disconnect a chain when the engine hot if is not present, so it is faulty.

HEATER RELAY

Scheme of the relay of a heater of an inlet collector

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. When ignition is included, check that on the plug 1 there was a rated voltage of the accumulator. If there is no potential, check connecting wires to the ignition lock.
2. Check presence of rated voltage of the accumulator on the plug 3 (when ignition is included or switched off). If there is no potential, check connecting wires to the accumulator.
3. Temporarily ground the plug 2 and check presence of tension of the accumulator on the plug 4. If there is no potential, replace the relay.

FUEL INTERRUPTION IN SUPPLY VALVE

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Include ignition, and then switch off it; the valve has to click at turn of a key in the ignition lock.
2. Connect the voltmeter between a wire of power supply of the valve and "weight". If the voltmeter does not show accumulator tension, check connecting wires to the power supply (food joins the ignition lock).
3. Check work of a plunger of the valve, having disconnected the socket of connection of the locking valve. Temporarily connect a cap wire the positive plug of the accumulator and a wire of power supply of the valve, and also the negative plug of the accumulator and the case of the electromagnetic valve (or a wire of grounding of the valve if is available).
4. Give and remove tension several times and check plunger course clearness. Replace the valve if it is faulty and cleaning will not improve its work.

SYSTEM OF INTERRUPTION IN SUPPLY OF FUEL AT DECREASE IN TURNS OF THE ENGINE (IF IT IS ESTABLISHED)

The weights plug on the connection socket

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect the voltmeter between the weights plug on the socket of connection of the valve and "mass" of the car.
2. When the engine works in the idling mode, tension has to make less than 1,5 Volta.
3. Increase the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft; when the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft rises higher than 2300 rpm, the voltmeter has to show the rated voltage of the accumulator.

2. Lift the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft approximately to 3000 rpm. Tension registered by the voltmeter has to be close to zero.
3. Quickly close a butterfly valve and at reduction of frequency of rotation of a bent shaft the valve has to make the hissing sound; indications of the voltmeter have to fall to zero. Then indications of the voltmeter have to increase to the rated voltage of the accumulator at decrease in frequency of rotation of a bent shaft lower than about 2100±100 rpm.
4. Check the valve plunger course, having disconnected the socket of connection of the valve of system of impoverishment of fuel mix. Connect a cap wire the positive plug (+) the accumulator and the plug of power supply of the valve and the second cap wire the negative plug(s) of the accumulator and a wire of grounding.
5. Give and remove tension several times; the valve has to click during the giving and removal of tension.

2. Lift the lever of the switch of system of idling in order that the switch opened a chain (1 – the switch of system of idling).
3. Open a butterfly valve and lift the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft to about 3000 rpm. At increase in frequency of rotation of a bent shaft about 2300 rpm registered by the voltmeter tension are higher have to equal to the rated voltage of the accumulator.
4. Quickly close a butterfly valve and at reduction of frequency of rotation of a bent shaft to 2300–1500 rpm, indications of the voltmeter have to fall lower than 1,5 Volts. When the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft decreases lower than 1500 rpm, indications of the voltmeter have to increase to the rated voltage of the accumulator.
5. Check the valve plunger course, having disconnected the socket of connection of the valve of system of enrichment of fuel mix. Connect a cap wire the positive plug (+) the accumulator and the plug of power supply of the valve and the second cap wire the negative plug(s) of the accumulator and a wire of grounding of the valve.
6. Give and remove tension several times; the valve has to click during the giving and removal of tension.

THE MECHANISM OF POSITIONING OF THE BUTTERFLY VALVE (IT IS ESTABLISHED ON SOME MODELS)

Check of a sitema of positioning of a butterfly valve
1. Rod

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Leave the engine to work in the idling mode, then slowly open throttles and lift the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft approximately to 3000 rpm. When the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft rises higher than about 2000 rpm, the rod of a diaphragm of system of positioning has to be involved by a diaphragm.
2. Slowly close a butterfly valve; when the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft decreases lower than about 1600-1800 rpm, the rod of system of positioning has to be released that the butterfly valve was closed.

DIAPHRAGM OF SYSTEM OF POSITIONING OF THE BUTTERFLY VALVE

Check of a diaphragm
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect vacuum hoses from a diaphragm and stop up a branch pipe of the hose going to the electromagnetic valve (if it is established).
2. Connect the vacuum pump to a vacuum branch pipe on a diaphragm and pump out air to receive depression in 300 m of a mercury column; the diaphragm has to involve completely a rod and depression has to remain within at least 30 seconds. Replace a diaphragm if it is faulty.
